      SAWLOGS

• GRADE 1
• Spruce and fir only; minimum 75% spruce; maximum 25% fir (sound wood only)
• No more than 3 months old(live trees at time of cut)
• Lengths: 12' and 16', with 6" to 9" trim; load must contain a minimum of 60% 16' logs
• Diameter: 6" minimum to 20" maximum(Inside bark)
• Not more than 1/3 of gross log volume in defects from damage, rot, sweep, porcupine chews, or other non- merchantable defect.
• Excessive knots: not more than 12 knots 1"- 3" in diameter OR not more than 8 knots greater than 3" diameter in any 4-foot section of a log.
• No forked logs, no burned or charred wood.
• At least 90% of the logs in the load must meet the following specifications for length, diameter and defects.
• GRADE 2
• Spruce/fir/jack pine in any proportion(jack pine must be separated)
• No more than 3 months
• Diameter as for grade 1 above
• Lengths:12' and 16' plus 6" to 9" trim (no minimum for 16' logs)
• At least 85% of logs in the load must meet the above specifications for length, diameter and defects.
